(by what to do, I mean what I do!)

The table mat I have already mentioned rolls up & can easily be transported!

I haven't got a free flow beaker where you can fold down the spout, although I know such things exist. I just ask for my normal cup to be filled with boiling water when we are out. We have been known to have the evil froggy cup cooling in an ice bucket with our wine! lol

My most recent discovery are sainsbury's disposable bibs. I know these go against my whole cloth nappy, re-useable wipes ethos, but they are very convenient. I use them for when we end up eating out unexpectedly iykwim.

I try and keep on me if we are going out a small tupperware tub with dried fruit & breadsticks in, often also with some chunks of cheese and some cherry tomatoes too (depending on how organised I am). This is my back up in case there is nothing George friendly on a menu! I do manage to do well with ordering from menu's though!

Has anyone got any out & about tips to share?

Love

Mel x

Essential Equipment

Now, you may wonder if I have gone totally mad with this one, but it occurred to me that I have bought or been given a few bits and bobs which have made life easier during this whole weaning lark, so I thought that if I showed you mine, you might show me yours!

So here goes:

High Chair - Our is a wooden Hauck one which works on the same principal as the Stokke Tripp Trapp. It pulls right up to the table, and will "grow" with George!

Table Mat - I bought a wonderful rubber mat from blooming marvellous. It suckers on to the table and has a tray which hangs off the edge to catch dropped food. Best of all, it rolls up so you can take it out & about with you!

I have a second type, a tommee tippee one which can be used to hold a bowl in place. Very good for pasta and stupid attempts to get George to eat raisin wheat's!

Floor Mat - I was a slow start with this one, but after weeks of scrubbing the floor I bought a floor mat from mothercare. I have heard of people cutting up cheap shower mats or using trays for the same purpose!

Bibs - an essential! I use bibs from Adsa that have sleeves. They are material backed with plastic and are about £2 a go! I cannot recommend them enough!

Cups - George has never drunk out of a bottle, and so getting him to drink out of any sort of cup has been interesting! Our HV's up here are very anti the "any way up" type cups (for teeth and speech reasons - I will explain in more detail if anyone isn't sure what I am going on about!), and George cannot get anything out of the one we tried anything. I personally think bf babies struggle with these sorts of cups.

He does best with a cheap nasty frog sippy cup with free flow spout which comes in a set from Ikea for £1! It was a gift to us, and i hated it until I tried the cup in desperation!

I also have a doidy cup, for when I am feeling very calm! Also some tommee tippee cups which have a progression insert in them to move between the spout & an open cup! Even better they were free from sure start!

Bowl - the frog one from the set above, and another freebie from surestart are the only ones I have. The surestart freebie I use more often as I can suction it to the second mat I have!

Cutlery - I have a spoon from the Ikea set, which I have loaded with beans etc, and George will use perfectly well. He also got 2 sets of big boys cutlery which I will try him out on soon! Bit scary as they are metal, but I looked in mothercare this weekend and the cutlery was all mush shovelling spoons or metal in some way! Think this may be an overprotective mother issue! lol

Well that is all I can think of for now.....

What does anyone else think is a great find / useful with Baby Led Weaning?

love

Mel x
